ABOUT US

sustainability

There is no sugar coating it: indoor climbing holds are made from plastic, and it’s hard to do much about that. no point in greenwashing things, but as far as viken’s philosophy goes, there are points to take away in the logistics, low threshold facility and co2-emissions relating to manufacture.

from composite-x it states the following:

At Composite-X, sustainability is a major strategic priority.
We work towards:
• Minimizing all CO2 emissions including the production process and forwards and backwards in the supply chain
• Reducing waste to landfill.
• Engaging with clients to minimize impact on transport and packaging of products.
• Sourcing from companies and supporting clients with the best environmental standards and practices
• Proactive environmental company culture
• The longest life product. supporting clients with the best environmental standards and practices
• Educating our employees about environmental awareness

Those re-used tools, spaces and work clothes adds to the effort of minimizing the footprint, and fingers are constantly crossed that technology eventually will cath up with sustainability goals. If everyon climbed outdoors, everything would also change. a scenario that viken - despite his business - whole heartedly endorses.

raw dogging holds

Situated outside Trondheim, norway, 12troll has its origin. founded by erlend viken - an eager hobby climber since 2005 - with the ambition to create timeless holds with ace quality. using the same foam, with the same density as brands like kilter and cheetah, as well as manufacturing his holds at the same company, bulgarian composite-x, the level of production quality is up to par. moulded in composite-x’s own dannomond material, the holds are both durable and versatile. the rigid but flexible nature of dannomond ensures the holds don’t chip or break.

the design of the holds are based upon viken’s no bullshit philosophy, using his experience as both routesetter and climber ensures an outcome that is user friendly for the routesetter, and comfortable for the climber. endorsed by several experienced climbers, 12troll constitutes a broad specter of experience and competence, and gives a clever sheen to the grittyness of the garage.

12troll holds are made to fit the needs of both the new beginner, as well as the professional athlete. it is made with the love for the sport, for the routesetter and for the one in the wall.
